Research Paper Topic #2

OK, so I've been thinking about the topic that I wrote about in my fist blog, I'm not a passionate political type, I don't even belong to/want to choose a respective party, and I feel like The Electoral College is an easy topic because there is so much information out there, and where it does intrigue and interest me I feel a lack of passion. I am really interested in health and fitness, but I feel like I can't use that topic because this paper is not supposed to be a "how to.." as stated in the choosing your topic document posted on Blackboard, by Gale. I also feel like it is hard to find a controversial health/fitness topic. I would really love to talk about obesity/nutrition/sedentary lifestyle, I can see how obesity is a huge problem, with several very different avenues of resolution, so I can see the possibility of a controversy, but the only real controversy I can see is losing weight the right way or the wrong way, or the failure/denial of people to notice that their weight is a problem. But then I feel like I've come full circle back to the forbidden "how to.." paper. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, I will also send this to Gale.

Thanks
Jen

I think you should narrow it down if you want to write on this topic. Maybe you could pick a specific age group of people. Children and obesity? Or even more specifically narrow it down to children and the lack of physical activity that contributes to obesity. Also foods, snacking(which may have a lot to do with parents working more , the economy, buying cheaper less healthy foods). There are so many contributing factors I think you could pick one and do a very thorough report on it.

I wish you luck. I posted a large response to your other topic choice which I still believe is a good choice. Like you though I changed my mind from my first topic just because I wanted to get away from political research.

Let us know what you decide,
Ginny

Hi Jen,
I think the health and nutrition is a great subject. It is broad but there are ways you can narrow your search. Maybe try holistic versus tradtional medicine:Do we always need antibiotics or can I bodies fight germs and infections of by boosting the immune system naturally? Or obesity in children in the state of Washington. What are the stats for youth under the age of ten? Much like Ginny said. Or is a Vegan diet better than a diet that consists of meat and dairy?
I think this is a good topic and I believe it's one that many people can relate to and want to know more about. Good luck and I hope this helped.
